Rooted in Compassion, Grown through Dedication
The story of Holding Hope Centre for Speech & Hearing is one of legacy, love, and unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of individuals with communication and developmental challenges.
A Legacy Begins
Our journey began with the visionary work of Late Dr. Rina Barua Goswami, a respected ENT specialist who began her pioneering work in 1985 in Guwahati, Assam. Dr. Goswami was among the early champions advocating for awareness, early detection, and rehabilitation of speech and hearing impairments in India. Her clinic became a haven for families seeking not just medical expertise, but empathy, patience, and understanding.
Dr. Goswami’s compassionate approach inspired countless lives, and her dream was simple yet powerful—to ensure that no child or adult struggles in silence due to communication barriers.
A Daughter’s Purpose
Carrying forward this profound legacy, her daughter, Dr. Sudeshna Goswami, founded the Holding Hope Centre. A registered Speech Language Pathologist & Audiologist, and a Master’s degree holder in Psychology, Mrs. Goswami combined clinical expertise with a deep understanding of emotional and developmental needs.
From early roles such as founding the Speech Department at Apollo Hospitals, Guwahati, to serving as a visiting consultant at Visha Therapy Centre in Mumbai, she gained both experience and insight that would shape the philosophy of the centre she dreamed of building.
The Birth of Holding Hope
In 2015, Holding Hope Centre was officially established with a clear purpose—to create a nurturing, inclusive space where children and adults with speech, hearing, cognitive, and physical challenges could receive not just therapy, but hope, dignity, and direction.
What started as a speech and hearing clinic soon evolved into a full-fledged multidisciplinary rehabilitation center, offering:
Each service is deeply rooted in the values passed down from Dr. Rina Barua Goswami: compassion, consistency, and a belief in every individual’s potential.
The name “Holding Hope” reflects our mission—to hold hope on behalf of those who may feel lost, to support families in their moments of uncertainty, and to journey with each individual as they discover their voice, strength, and joy.
At Holding Hope, we don’t just treat symptoms—we empower lives.
